Howard Beach Karate was founded on February 22nd, 1999 by
Shihan Neil Dunker. After six years of operating a USA Goju
(founded by O'Sensei Peter Urban) based school, Shihan Neil Dunker
and Shihan Raymond Ventoso formulated the style of Ven Jitsu Goju
while keeping USA Goju as a core base style. Ven Jitsu Goju is a
combination of USA Goju, Ju-Jitsu, Judo, and Shotokan, as well as
various concepts from other martial arts such as Wing Chung taught
by Sifu Kit and Tae Kwon Do kicks taught to Shihan Dunker as he
trained under multiple teachers in the Zen Goju Temple.
